"Nächtliche Brandung" is the 2nd movements of the cycle "Treeß Piecen" which was written by Marius Bajog in 2013. It is the "twin" of another cycle of pieces for solo guitar, called "Piecen Viere".
The Treeß Piecen cycle is meant to bring together three different musical ideas, similar to the Piecen Viere cycle, although the style of the pieces is not as contrasting, but rather consistent. The movements can be performed as one progressing piece, but at the same time they can be performed as separate little pieces.
"Nächtliche Brandung" is German for "Night Surf", which is the title of a short story by Stephen King from 1969.

The piece is inspired not only by this short story, but also by guitarist and composer Andrew York (*1958), who is the dedicatee of this piece.
